Lightening:
You must maintain uniform lightning to change the entire background which is very important in green screen photography.
For maintaining required lighting condition, you must have professional studio light, two lights should be there to set up as side lightening approx. at 45 degrees at least 5 feet away.

Background Separation

You should be at least 6 feet away from the background, that may not be possible while taking photos in large groups, but if you do that then there can be green spills in the photos.

You do not have to purchase a professional green background, you can opt for painting a green wall, you can use green constructed tape on the wall.
